Exploding iPhone Claims – A Mystery Yet Unsolved

Not long ago in Belgium, a 15 year old boy was about to make a call using his iPhone, when it exploded in his hand. This is just one of several shocking cases of supposed “Exploding iPhones” that have been reported throughout the European Union. Apple has promised a replacement phone to the young man, and though he was not injured and claimed only that he had a headache for a couple of days, some have reportedly not been so lucky. One young boy in France plans to request a full refund and file a lawsuit against Apple for damages, claiming that his eye was damaged by a piece of glass from the face of his iPhone when it exploded. There have been reports of Apple’s trying to cover up these incidents. One British family claims that they were asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement before Apple would agree to assist them with their claim. Apple insists that these are isolated incidents and that there is no cause for alarm.

The U.S. Technology Mammoth has sold more than 26 million iPhones to date and insists that there is no evidence to support a claim that their product poses a threat to the general public. That being said, an investigation has been launched by France’s General Directorate for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) to ascertain whether or not Apple’s statement that the iPhone poses no threat is indeed the truth. In addition, despite that the fact that the European Commission has stated that Apple has been nothing but cooperative, it is still requesting that all 27 EU member states report any iPhone issues that that might surface via RAPEX, the EU rapid alert system for dangerous consumer products.

  1. William Rodriguez Says:

Apple is such a huge corporation. I don\’t believe that they can produce such products which \"Blast Off\". These might be rumors made by teenagers for publicity. How can they use uncertified components in their products?

  2. Jennifer Says:

Some of these incidents took place near my city. So I I followed the stories myself and its hard to believe they are real. The Iphone they said was blown up, merely had a crack on the screen. But cannot tell for sure what has happened.

  3. Steven Says:

Has anyone got any good feedback about iPhone? I dont really care if it explodes, but heard few stories about cracked screens and people having to carry it in protective cases. Planning on buying one soon.

  4. Allen Says:

Every product in the world has atleast a defective piece manufactured. Guess the blown up ones were those pieces. When Apple started making laptops there were stories about some catching fire. But those stories didn’t even last for an year. Same case here. These rumors will not last for a month.

  5. Alexander Gomez Says:

These people must have over charged their batteries and caused overheating which burned their screens. And LOL they call it explosion !!!

  6. JONATHAN HENRY Says:

    Hello Lewis

As you said, it is a Mystery yet Unsolved. Because I have been searching the net for all articles related to this topic. Some of them seems to have some truth in it. After all Apple is such a big fish. They know ways to cover up such issues right.

  7. Randy Says:

I dont think there is any truth in it. I can hardly believe an Iphone exploding just like that. Next they are going to say that there are cars running in water. Hello, This is 21st Century. Wake up people.

    Randy

  8. Jimmy Philip Says:

Exploding Iphones !!! OMG I am wondering when mine is going to blow up. As far as I know Apple is a good company. I own an iPhone 3GS. No problems so far.

  9. Antonio Leonard Says:

iPhone is a good phone. These rumors cannot affect even a percentage of its sales. People just do anything for publicity now a days. Maybe some of them are jealous about its popularity.

  10. Rodny Manuel Says:

Might be some technical errors with some of the products.
and some of them might have exaggerated it.
Exploding is not the right term I guess. It is imploding.
